Subject: Galley pump

I recently replaced a Fynspray rocker galley pump. I was using it for a salt water pump. It had been in place about 5 years, I guess, but it got to the point where it would not work. I did not prime it to see if that would help.

The original pump for that purpose lasted for about 20 years but it is no longer made, as far as I can determine.

The only replacement I could find was a new Fynspray pump.

Thanks for all the replies on the galley pump topic. I got some very useful information and I think I will try to repair the existing system (now that I know it may actually work!).

I found the Par pump previously described, at Depco, a big pump distributor in Clearwater. You can find their web page by entering "Depco" and "pumps" in Google. They list the pump and have it for sale. Their website does not show pictures or prices, but it can be ordered by phone. They ship worldwide, to the best of my knowledge.

If I had known of this source, I would not have bought the Fynspray pump that has succeeded it. It is too late to go back, the Fynspray has required a larger hole in the counter than does the Par.
